K-2 Music Teacher
Graduated from Iola High School in 2015.
Graduated from Allen Community College in 2018.
I was a preschool speech para for 2 years in the district prior to accepting this position. I teach kindergarten, first and second grade music.
I worked at the SAFEBASE afterschool program from my sophomore year of highschool on through college. During this time, I developed a passion for teaching and supporting elementary students. I found that I really connected with students in lower elementary. This was solidified when I was a teacher at The Growing Place in Humboldt. I primarily worked with infants and toddlers, but enjoyed interacting with children of all ages.
I married Paul Vernon on December 11th of 2021. We met during my time at Allen and share a passion for music and all things silly and lighthearted. We have no children, but between the 2 of us, we are the proud aunt and uncle of more than 12 nieces and nephews who are all scattered around the United States. We have 2 cats, Cleo and Richard, 2 dogs, Roxie and Harper, and 2 geckos, Felix and Darwin.
My main passion is music. I play the flute, viola, ukulele, some piano, and I sing. I have participated in community band, orchestra, and choir in the past. I also really enjoy theater and am frequenty on stage with Iola Community Theater. While I am not teaching or performing, I enjoying crafting, crochet, watching movies, spending time with my family and friends, and researching topics that I want to learn more about.
